The D.U.F.F.A. Cup



Australian Rules Football is one of the hardest hitting sports in the world. Be on hand to experience the action of the First Annual Down Under Fest Footy All-Stars Cup (aka The D.U.F.F.A. Cup). Games will begin early on Saturday, May 26 and finishing on Sunday, May 27, in the same format as Nationals (2x20min games Round Robin, 8 team pools) followed by live music, food and beer at the Billabong Pub.

The Atlanta Kookaburras are hosting the event which will utilize two sections of the Down Under Fest grounds. Opponents from across the USA will go head to head to vie for the honors of taking home the 2012 CUP.

Matt Bishop and the representatives from the official men’s USAFL (International) team – the American Revolution – and members of the official women’s USAFL (International) team – The Freedom – will be at the event.  Having the national  team on hand will give participants the opportunity to compete against some of the best players in the country while honing their skills against the National Squad. Who knows? Maybe you could be placed on their watch list.

Players are encouraged to bring their families. $10 will get the rest of the family (up to 5) into the DUFFA CUP and the Down Under Fest for the weekend. Kids can have photos with the live Kangaroos, slide on the inflatables, learn to play a didgeridoo, or dance the Hakka while the games forge ahead. It is a great way to keep everyone entertained and spend some time together over the long weekend.

Accommodation at local hotels – at Down Under Fest special discounted rates – is available if booked prior to May 1.

On Sunday night, after the festival shuts down, and the DUFFA CUP Trophy award ceremony is over, the party will begin with the David Oakleaf and the Open Road , Aussie style burgers and Sausage Sizzle, beer and fun.


The USAFL will be hosting an Umpire clinic which will be led by Jeff Persson, USAFL Umpiring Director and currently with the Nashville Kangaroos . The clinic will consist of a Friday night classroom session at our host hotel the Marriott hotel, a Saturday morning field session and a post tournament debrief afterwards. There is no charge for the clinic and umpires will get experience with Jeff, while he is coaching, in real time. Umpires will be remunerated for their field time.
